May 3, 2008

Well, let us see how this whole blogging thing works out. I give it pretty good odds that there will be a few erratic entries, followed by a very brief period of religious entries, to be concluded with complete abandonment.
But I’ve been thinking about it for a while and might as well try it out – if Nat can do it, surely I can give it a stab!
I know that the blogs that I most enjoy reading are focused and topic defined; I am not so well focused – scattered is probably a more accurate description of my interests – so expect a shotgun approach to posts. Perhaps a focus will drop into view when I get comfortable.

I’m really racking up the reasons to abandon all interest, aren’t I?

Today was the opening day of the Collingswood Farmer’s Market. I have not been to a farmer’s market in New Jersey, and miss the Westwood and Santa Monica Farmer’s markets that I went to while in grad school, so I stopped by after picking up my bib for the Philadelphia Broad Street Run. (It’s a 10 mile run down Broad Street that draws a large crowd and would be a lot of fun, if it were not peak allergy season for me and on top of not sleeping well, I can’t breathe properly. I’m only running it this year because I shanghaied 5 other colleagues from work into doing it and feel I should show my support).

It’s a smaller Farmer’s market than I expected, but it’s still early in the season, and I got more than I needed. I picked up some oyster mushrooms, arugula, cilantro, and beets (with greens!!!). Since I’m running 10 miles tomorrow, I fried up a slice of bacon and sautéed the mushrooms and arugula and tossed it with some fresh pasta for dinner. Yum!
